About Our Food Truck
In 2014 we bought this old 1974 Starcraft Starcruiser, which we converted into the aply named Retro Taco Food Truck. In 2014 we bought this old 1974 Starcraft Starcruiser, which we converted into the aply named Retro Taco Food Truck. In 2016 we took it a step further when we purchased the Restaurant location at the corners of Strawberry Plains Pike and John Sevier Hwy. It had previouly been a gas station and had sat for over two decades. On May 5, 2017 we opened the restaurant with a limited menu and building still under construction. By the beginning of 2018 the menu had expanded to include original concepts, such as the Tennessee Moonshine Brisket Tacos, Nachos, and Quesadillas. The Chimichanga, Jumbo Wings, Shrimp Platter w/Mexican Corn, Loaded Fries, and Pork Shanks, are a just few more examples of how we have inovated Cali-Mex cuisine in Knoxville. In summer of 2018 Retro added Karaoke and Live Music six nights a week, with a full bar, darts, pool, and cornhole tournaments on the patio. We also feature local craft taps like Hexagon Brexing and Fanatic Brewing, and run ridiculous drink specials on game day. Only 15 minutes from downtown, it is a great locale to escape into the country, and a truly unique Knoxville experience.
